How SULTRAFIED confirms adult status, protects children from adult Content and applies privacy-first age assurance across our 18+ community.
Why SULTRAFIED checks age
SULTRAFIED is designed exclusively for adults aged 18 years or over. Our age assurance measures help us prevent children from accessing adult Content and adult-only areas of the Platform.
Age assurance is an important part of our wider safeguarding, account security and online-safety framework. It operates alongside our registration controls, Content moderation, reporting systems, Member verification procedures and Community Rules.
Simply entering a date of birth or ticking a box to state that you are over 18 is not, by itself, treated by SULTRAFIED as sufficient age assurance where a stronger check is required.
UK age assurance requirements
The Online Safety Act 2023 introduced legal duties intended to protect children from harmful and age-inappropriate online Content.
From 25 July 2025, services within scope of the UK regime which allow pornographic Content are required to use highly effective age assurance to prevent children from encountering that Content.
Ofcom, the UK’s online-safety regulator, expects highly effective age assurance to be technically accurate, robust, reliable and fair.
SULTRAFIED has additionally chosen to operate as an adults-only community. Accordingly, we may apply age assurance more broadly than the minimum point at which a particular legal duty would otherwise require an age check.
The method should be capable of accurately distinguishing adults from children.
The process should resist straightforward attempts to bypass or manipulate it.
The method should perform consistently and operate as intended.
The process should seek to minimise bias and discriminatory outcomes.
Age assurance outside the United Kingdom
Ireland’s Online Safety Code contains age-assurance requirements for video-sharing platform services within its scope which permit adult-only video Content. The relevant requirements include measures intended to ensure that children cannot normally access adult-only video Content.
Part B of the Irish Online Safety Code became applicable to the relevant category of regulated video-sharing platform services from 21 July 2025.
Age assurance requirements differ between countries and may continue to develop. SULTRAFIED may therefore apply additional or different age-assurance controls where required by the law applicable to a Member or to our provision of the Platform.
Regardless of whether a particular jurisdiction requires the same form of age assurance as the UK, SULTRAFIED’s own minimum-age requirement remains 18 years.
How SULTRAFIED may confirm you are 18+
SULTRAFIED may make one or more age-assurance methods available depending on your country, device, network, account circumstances and the services provided by our approved age-assurance partners.
You may not necessarily be asked to complete every method listed below. In some cases adult status may be confirmed using an eligible existing signal, subject to the requirements applicable to that method.
Verify by Mobile Connection
Where supported, an approved age-assurance service may check with your mobile-network operator whether adult-content restrictions have been removed from your mobile account.
This can provide an adult-status signal without SULTRAFIED needing to receive your date of birth or identity document.
Verify by Mobile
Where an eligible mobile verification service is available, you may be asked to confirm control of a mobile number as part of a check linked to adult status held or confirmed by the relevant network or verification provider.
A simple SMS code or possession of a telephone number alone is not treated as proof that a person is over 18.
Facial Age Estimation
You may be asked to use your device camera so specialist age-estimation technology can analyse facial features and estimate whether you are above an appropriate age threshold.
A challenge-age approach may be used. For example, the system may seek confidence that you appear over 25 rather than simply estimating whether you have reached 18.
Photo ID & Face Matching
Where another method cannot provide sufficient assurance, you may be offered verification using an eligible official photo ID such as a passport or driving licence together with a selfie or liveness check.
The process is designed to confirm both the age shown by the document and that the person presenting it is the legitimate holder.
Credit Card Check
Where available, an eligible credit card may be used as an adult-status check because a primary credit-card holder must ordinarily satisfy adult eligibility requirements.
A debit card payment is not treated by SULTRAFIED as an equivalent highly effective age check merely because a payment succeeds.
Other Approved Methods
As age-assurance technology develops, SULTRAFIED may introduce other appropriate methods, such as digital identity services, open-banking age checks or other technologies capable of meeting applicable regulatory requirements.
We may also withdraw a method where we no longer consider it sufficiently effective, proportionate or privacy-preserving.
Facial age estimation and identity checks
Where facial age estimation is offered, specialist technology analyses facial features for the limited purpose of estimating whether the person completing the check is sufficiently above the required age threshold.
The process may incorporate liveness or anti-spoofing technology intended to determine whether the camera is being used by a live person rather than being shown a photograph, recording or other substitute.
Where facial age estimation does not provide sufficient confidence that the person is an adult, this does not necessarily mean that the person is under 18. SULTRAFIED may instead offer another method such as photo-ID matching.
Designed to minimise personal information
SULTRAFIED is committed to implementing age assurance in a privacy-conscious and proportionate way.
Where technically possible, SULTRAFIED seeks to receive only the information required to establish the relevant age-assurance outcome — for example, confirmation that a Member has successfully satisfied the 18+ requirement — rather than receiving unnecessary underlying identity information.
Personal information used for age assurance should be limited to what is necessary for that purpose and must not be repurposed by SULTRAFIED for advertising or unrelated profiling.
Where an independent age-assurance provider performs a check, that provider may temporarily process information required to complete the selected method. The applicable privacy information presented during the verification process will explain the processing carried out by that provider.
Age-assurance information should be limited to the minimum reasonably necessary.
Age-check information is not intended for unrelated advertising or behavioural profiling.
Appropriate safeguards should apply while age assurance information is being processed.
Information should not be retained for longer than required for the legitimate purpose for which it was processed.
Failed checks and alternative verification
An unsuccessful age-assurance attempt does not necessarily mean that SULTRAFIED has determined you are under 18. A check may fail because the provider cannot obtain sufficient confidence, because of technical problems or because the selected method is unavailable for your circumstances.
Where appropriate, SULTRAFIED may offer another approved method so that an adult Member has a reasonable alternative way to demonstrate adult status.

Attempts to bypass age assurance
Members must not attempt to bypass, defeat, manipulate or circumvent SULTRAFIED’s age-assurance systems.
You must not use another person’s identity document, credit card, mobile account, digital identity, photograph or other verification credentials in order to obtain adult status for yourself or another person.
You must not permit a person under 18 to access SULTRAFIED through an age-assured Account belonging to you.
Suspected circumvention, fraudulent verification, misuse of another person’s identity or allowing a minor to access an adult Account may result in additional verification, temporary restriction, suspension or permanent termination of the Account.
